Just Vision is seeking a Director of Public Engagement (DPE) to develop and drive strategic audience engagement campaigns around the organization’s storytelling efforts including its documentaries, journalism, digital media, and other projects. The DPE will ensure that Just Vision’s work is reaching strategic and broad audiences, from thought leaders and policymakers to journalists, faith leaders, students, educators, activists and beyond, and is contributing to Just Vision’s larger impact goals. They will be responsible for managing Just Vision’s events, outreach and communications with support from our Public Engagement Associate and in tandem with our Communications team. Externally, they will develop and maintain strategic relationships, building partnerships in order to advance our mission. They will also play a vital role in shaping Just Vision's internal culture through thoughtful, collaborative and effective supervision of the public engagement team (which includes outreach and communications staff).

Candidates must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational and problem-solving skills, experience as a people manager, and a passion for working on social change efforts, storytelling, journalism and/or the Israeli-Palestinian context. They will report to the Executive Director and be part of a fast-paced and collaborative environment as an integral member of a nimble, thoughtful and high-performance team.


Primary Responsibilities:

Strategy

  • Develop and implement Just Vision's public engagement strategy, ensuring that the organization’s events, outreach and communications are working in tandem to achieve maximum impact. 
  • Work closely with the Executive Director to ensure that Just Vision's public engagement efforts are aligned with the goals and mission of the organization.
  • Monitor and analyze data and impact to evaluate the effectiveness of Just Vision's public engagement efforts and modify when needed.

Outreach and External Engagement

  • Build, maintain and activate relationships with diverse audiences across the US and Israel-Palestine, including students, educators, organizers, community and faith leaders, journalists, policymakers and more.
  • Cultivate relationships and partnerships with organizations and leaders across issue areas beyond Israel-Palestine, including racial justice, reproductive rights, environmental justice, gun safety, immigration, LGBTQ rights and beyond.
  • Develop program proposals for events at universities and colleges, congregations, community centers, think tanks and conferences across the US.
  • Represent Just Vision at screenings, conferences, workshops and webinars and participate in high-level events on subjects related to our work including media, journalism, storytelling, Israel-Palestine and grassroots movement building. 
  • Serve as a key ambassador for the organization, liaising regularly and building relationships and strategic partnerships with educators, faith leaders, community organizers, activists, policymakers and others.

Management and Internal Coordination

  • Manage 2-3 members of the public engagement team (which includes outreach and communications staff) and ensure the successful execution of Just Vision’s communications as well as our events, including film screenings, conferences, public panels, film festivals, webinars and other virtual or in-person events.
  • Develop work plans and systems that guide the work of the public engagement team and enable the seamless execution of events, communications and campaigns.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback and offer professional development opportunities to help team members grow and thrive.
  • Oversee the development of content for internal communications including board reports, event digests and reports to keep the team and board coordinated and up-to-date. 
  • Ensure that our team accurately tracks our impact and synthesizes key learnings to inform our efforts.
  • Maintain and build upon a CRM that facilitates efficient and streamlined engagement with Just Vision’s audience across platforms.
  • Efficiently collaborate and cultivate strong relationships with an international team based across time zones.

Qualifications :

  • 3+ years of experience as a people manager and in a leadership and decision-making role. 
  • 7+ years of relevant professional experience in a comparable role in public engagement, outreach, communications, and/or documentary impact campaigns.
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong research, planning, organizational and analytical skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a solutions-oriented approach.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Appetite for working on and an understanding of the social, cultural and political landscape in the US, as it relates to the Israeli-Palestinian context, social justice issues and/or foreign policy matters.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability/comfort working and communicating virtually with remote team members.
  • Detail-oriented and organized with a track record of consistently meeting deadlines.
  • Strong familiarity with the Israeli-Palestinian context is a plus.
  • Experience working with press and journalists is a plus.
  • Prior non-profit experience is a plus.

This is a full-time exempt position with a salary range of $85,000 - $98,000, commensurate with experience. We are ideally looking for someone based in or near Washington, DC or New York City, NY, with the option for remote/hybrid work. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis through June 30.
