A river that runs 251 km from the Hula Valley in northern
Israel, through the
Jordan Valley in the
West Bank and into the
Dead Sea. The West Bank derives its name from being the western bank of the Jordan River. The distribution of its waters is hotly disputed by Syrian, Jordanian,
Palestinian and
Israeli authorities. See "
Jordan River Basin," UN-ESCWA and BGR, Inventory of Shared Water Resources in Western Asia.
