The past week has demonstrated the various contradictions in Israeli domestic and foreign politics. The ultra-Orthodox in Israel were abandoned twice during the Coronavirus: first by their leadership who underestimated the dangers of the virus and allowed people to gather for activities, and second, by the Israeli establishment and the general public who labeled them as reckless and irresponsible.

While there was once hope that the center-left parties in Israel would join the Joint List in an anti-Netanyahu bloc, these parties have since turned their back on a Jewish-Arab partnership and have joined the right-wing government.
