Naila and the Uprising

Rebekah has over twelve years of producing, directing and editing experience in film and television. She worked on films that aired on Al Arabiya, the Discovery Channel, and PBS. Rebekah lived in the West Bank for eight years where she worked with Palestinian and Israeli filmmakers to produce films (Swish, Swish) and documentaries (A Good Samaritan).
She also taught filmmaking at Al Quds University and Dar Al Kalima College. Rebekah has managed several youth media projects in the Middle East including a Palestinian-Israeli video exchange project.

Julia Bacha is a Peabody and Guggenheim award-winning filmmaker and the Creative Director at Just Vision, an organization that fills a media gap on Israel-Palestine through independent storytelling and strategic audience engagement. Since graduating Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Columbia University, she has strategically used documentary film to foster constructive conversations on some of the most divisive issues of our times.

Rula Salameh is a veteran journalist, community organizer and the Education and Outreach Director in Palestine for Just Vision, an organization that fills a media gap on Israel-Palestine through independent storytelling and strategic audience engagement. She produced three of Just Vision’s films - Budrus (2009), My Neighbourhood (2012) and Naila and the Uprising (2017) - and has led the team’s public engagement efforts across Palestinian society for over 13 years.

Jen Marlowe is an author/documentary filmmaker/playwright/journalist and human rights/social justice activist. She is the founder of Donkeysaddle Projects, which uses film, writing, theatre and other artistic platforms to amplify the resilience and courage of those who have been marginalized and oppressed and are choosing resistance with humanity and dignity.

Flavia de Souza is the editor of the Academy Award-nominated short documentary Open Heart. Her work also includes the 2019 News & Documentary Emmy Award-winning feature film Armed with Faith, as well as credits on Naila and the Uprising, Song of Lahore, and Rancher Farmer Fisherman, which premiered at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival. Flávia’s work has screened at Tribeca, DOC NYC, and Sheffield, among other festivals, and has broadcast on HBO, PBS, Arté, and the Discovery Channel.
